Four years after Marty McFly arrived from the past and stepped into a futuristic pair of self-lacing Nike’s, artist-in-residence Rudy Lim takes the innovation of the mythical Nike MAG into 2019—a silhouette the sneaker doc himself was nervous to dissect.
Known by his followers as @rudyindahouse_, the South Korean-based artist deconstructs hyped sneakers to craft the illusion of exploded silhouettes. Through careful disassembly of each MAG component, Rudy transformed the coveted sneaker into a floating three-dimensional sculpture over the course of three days.
“I believe in the power of creativity to inspire new perspectives. Through deconstruction, Rudy inspired our team to construct a new point of view,” says Oved Valadez, co-founder and executive creative director at INDUSTRY.
The exploded MAG marks the first artist installment to be showcased in our Portland office. The artwork will serve as a piece of inspiration and a celebration of creative expression, highlighting INDUSTRY’s past work.
